Starting April 8, 2024, eBay announced the elimination of sellers fees for pre-owned clothing. This includes listing prior to April 4, but have not sold.
Why? eBay’s internal data show that those who sell on eBay also buy twice as much compared to buyers who do not sell. Do you see the correlation here with pre-owned clothing? Either do we.
Second reason eBay states, is doing this is to keep the waste of unwanted clothing filling the landfills. As a person that’s concerned for the environment, I say bravo! The cynicism in me can’t help asking why just the UK? why not the USA? What in all the markets eBay participates in?
It is our opinion that this is just corporate spin for eBay to regain most of it’s market share, in this category, that it has lost due to falling being on keeping up with the proliferation of other sales channels and the trend towards lower or entire elimination of selling fees.
